Photography that inspires

A note about sizes

There are three basic sizes in the galleries which I have chosen as being the more popular for framed prints. However, please note that the sizes can vary a little as over the years I have used different cameras which produce images of slightly different proportions. These sizes are:

Small 305x203mm / 292x203mm
Medium 457x305mm / 406x305mm
Large 762x508mm / 688x521mm
Other sizes are available, just ask.

Welcome to my galleries

This page is an introduction to the galleries. It has a pic from each with a little explanation of what the gallery is about.

I hope you enjoy my galleries. All the photographs are for sale. Simply choose your size using the small green buttons under each thumbnail. Click on the thumbnail to see a larger preview. Other sizes and kinds of print are available, for example stretched canvas prints and glass splash backs. You can even have an image on a tee shirt. Just ask by emailing me.

The small and medium size prints are photographic prints produced using photographic dyes and are available in gloss or matt. Large photographs are giclée prints on high quality photographic paper and are semi gloss.

Seaside galleries

These are photographs that are based on anything to do with seaside. Harbours, beaches, fishing boats, seascapes, sand and holidays.

They were taken mostly in Kent, England. Towns including Folkestone, Deal, Whitstable, Tankerton, Hastings Eastbourne, Camber Sands, Whitby and Padstow.

There are also photos from France including: Le Touquet-Paris-Plage, Collioure, Biarritz and La Rochelle.

Dungeness galleries

Uninspiring name, amazing place. It’s easier to take good photographs at Dungeness than bad ones. Dungeness is an area of Special Scientific Interest. It is a haunting almost alien landscape.

Find out more about it here.

I have always found Dungeness an inspiring place, I am not the first and I won’t be the last. Artist and filmmaker Derek Jarman lived here in Prospect Cottage and made a unique garden which he wrote about in the book ‘Derek Jarman’s Garden’.

New York galleries

Here are some photographs that I took in New York City a number of years ago.

Some nice shots of the Empire State Building, the iconic viewing telescopes on the top of The Empire State, a photo of the Flatiron building, Downtown New York and a Yellow Cab. Also the life jackets on the Staten Island Ferry.

I visited fairly soon after 9/11 and took a shot of the cross at Ground Zero made out of girders from the Twin Towers.

Venice galleries

What can I write about Venice that hasn’t been written before?

I fell in love with Venice in 1988, I returned there on my honeymoon in 1995 and took my father in 2006 which is when these photographs were taken.

Venice has obviously been photographed countless times before and it’s not possible to point a camera at anything ugly.

Here you’ll find pictures of gondolas, the Bridge of Sighs (Ponte dei Sospiri), the Grand Canal, St Mark’s Square, Basilica San Marco, Cemetary Island and Burano Island.
