Photography that inspires |
|||||
About me I was born in Wakefield, Yorkshire in 1969. I grew up there until I left home at age 18 to go to college. I studied theology in Birmingham. Since then I have lived in Kent and London working as a graphic designer for a number of design and advertising agencies. I now live in Folkestone. I have been interested in photography since I was a teenager. I bought my first ‘proper’ camera, a second hand Yashica FX-3, from Harrison Photographic in Sheffield in 1987. I had a standard lens and a Tamron SP 35-210mm which went with me everywhere. Next I bought an Olympus OM-2 Spot Programme and then an OM-4. Later I bought a Canon T90 which I quickly changed for a tatty Nikon F3HP. I didn't much like the automation that the Canon had, I found it therefore difficult to use. I loved the F3. In fact if I could get one now that had a full-frame digital sensor I would. I eventually sold my F3 for a Nikon F90, which I disliked. I didn't get on with all of it's functions nor the AF. So I sold that to get another F3. Eventually, though, I decided to go digital and bought a Nikon D70. I liked this camera, but I didn't love it like I did my old F3 and it spent more time in it's bag than being used. Finally I decided to sell it when I discovered that you could get a manual focus digital range finder. I tried an Epson R-D1 for a week and looked at the Leica M8. In the end I took the plunge and bought an M8 from Robert White. I love it. It gives me everything that the F3 gave me but the convenience of a digital camera. I don't really like gadgets that do everything for me, it takes the pleasure and control out of photography. My Leica M8 is just aperture priority or manual. Perfect. I also have a Canon PowerShot G9 that covers the bases left by Leica. About this site I made this site so that I can let others see the results of my photographic efforts, and hopefully, if you like them, sell some prints. I have tried to design it to be simple, keeping print sizes to just three variations. I have arranged my work into galleries which are easy to navigate and give a good sized preview of each image. Payment is simplified via PayPal, you don't need an account, just a credit or debit card. Of course, other sizes of prints are available, and all my photographs are available on canvas and, if you like, as very large posters. They can also all be applied to glass to make kitchen and bathroom splashbacks, or whole walls can be covered in glass with a photograph behind. If you are interested in anything like this or have a special project in mind, please get in touch. Thanks for visiting |
